Reflections From The Bible And Life

Love By Grace

We love listening to music. Almost all the good ones are about love. Love that is gained, love that is lost, love compromised, love being sought, and so on and so forth. They come in different titles, but it all boils down to the same thing: we love to love, and being loved.

Love is actually more than what is being sung in many songs, and goes deeper than relationships with the opposite sex, between father and son, mother and daughter. There is more to love than  just your own family. Many stories of love are contained in the bible. Jesus is the ultimate Author of Love. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus did not have to sacrifice Himself, but He chose to, out of sovereign love. It is this grace which only He can provide that we are saved.

Do you know that God knows what kind of person you will be, and what kind of childhood and upbringing you will have and how long you will live? Yes, everything was already known even before you were born. He knew how sinful we would be. Yet He was prepared for all these, because He loves us.

There are so many kinds of love that the bible teaches, but the most remarkable is God’s love for us. Because of this, we love as well. (refer to 1 John 4:19) The bible teaches us to love others more than we love ourselves. Romans 12:10 states, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” The Lord teaches us humility and real love, as He teaches us to be Christ to others, just as Christ has been to us in His earthly life. Life is not about us. Life is all about serving the Lord. since the Lord is all about love, then life is all about giving and showing love to others, that they may see Christ in us. We honor Christ when we do this, and this is how we show the Lord we love Him.

The sun shines as clearly in the darkest day as it does in its brightest. The difference is not in the sun, but in some clouds which hinder the manifestation of the light. Likewise, the love of God is always there, whether you are happily blessed or in turmoil. We just lose focus in His love because we are too overwhelmed with what trials we face. Know that love has power over darkness. If we sinners have the capacity to love others, what more with the Father, who is sinless, and who loves us eternally? For sure if we love one another even when in trial, the Lord will not abandon us.
