Back To The Basics With Creation
Happy New 2014 to everyone! I have not been updating my blog site nor reading up on my bible, and since this is a new year, I have made the resolution to continue that good habit I once had.
I decided to start with the first 2 chapters of Genesis, about Creation. After reading the first 2 chapters, I have realized that the Bible is the only book that boldly and clearly claims how man and the world came to be. Other ancient religions merely indicate that the world came out of something that was already there, while the bible clearly states that we were created out of nothingness, through God’s Word and God’s breath.
As early as in Genesis, the Holy Trinity was already revealed. God the Father did not create us alone. God’s Word is God the Son, whom we now all know as Jesus Christ, who is also in command of all the angels. If we recall John’s passage in John 1:1-5, we will understand better what the passages mean if we remember that Jesus and The Word was one and the same: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” The Word was with God, meaning, God wasn’t alone. The Word was God, meant that the Word is also God, so that shows God is not just one being. He was in the beginning with God. God the Son was always there with God the Father, even before He became man. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. Jesus is the Light of the World, and through Him do we see Light, and He conquers the darkness which symbolizes evil. True, Jesus made the dead rise, and He Himself, rose from hell days after He died.
God’s breath is the Holy Spirit, the third entity of God. If you get to read Acts 1:5: “‘This is what you have heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.’” Acts 2:1 states, “When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.” If you read further, you’ll find out that the wind was accompanied by what seemed like tongues of fire. This strengthened the apostles, made them bold, and even speak in foreign dialects. This is the same spirit that hovers all over creation, preserving and preparing it for God’s further creative activity.
God has reasons why the world was created. The heavens and the earth are manifestations of His glory, majesty and power. The animals. creatures of the sea and of the air, the skies and galaxy, through their existence, their ways and their being, they proclaim the majestic work of His hands. We cannot help but stand in awe of His majesty.
God created all these to provide a place where His purpose and goals for humankind might be fulfilled. Truly we are special, for He created us in His likeness, and as a tiune being as well ( body, soul, spirit) so that He could have a loving, personal relationship with us for all eternity. God loves us so dearly that when Adam and Eve sinned because of Satan’s temptation, and after Satan has corrupted this world, He sent His only Son down to Earth to save us.
In the book of Revelation, John describes the end of history with these words: “He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God” (Revelations 21:3) This is the culmination of God’s purpose in creating us. He wants to have a relationship with us. He loves us dearly that’s why He gave us free will.
The problem is we get easily distracted with ourselves and the things of this world. We oftenly forget that He exists and we get easily disillusioned with many things and are swamped with so many activities of our own. We are easily convinced that our success are based on our own efforts alone, and we become proud of them. The truth is we are successful because God allowed it to happen and because He sees a good purpose for it. We are blessed so that we may have the capacity to bless others as well.
As early as now, I strongly urge you to look deeply into yourselves and see if you have a deep relationship with the Lord. If you have, then good. Simply maintain it or see what areas you can improve on. The bible contains all the wisdom coming from our Lord. It answers all the difficult questions that you have in mind. If we pray to Him, we are the ones doing the talking. Prayer is actually a 2-way communication. We should also allow some time to silently reflect, and read the bible as well, for this is how The Lord responds to us, aside from the many unexpected incidents that arise, and through the people that we meet and talk to. The bible is how The Lord speaks to us. If you want to be intimate with Him, know what he wants so that you’ll know what is expected of you. The bible tells you everything.
May the Lord bless you abundantly this 2014, so that you may be equipped to bless others as well, and be His light to others. Let’s start with the right good habits and dropping old nasty habits.
Have a wonderful day! 🙂
