Revelation 14:14-19; Luke 21:5-11
In both the Old and New Testaments, the bible warn us of what would happen, and if we don’t stay faithful to God, we may be caught unprepared for what is to come. When Jesus warned the disciples of the destruction of the massive temple, the false prophets claiming to be the Messiah, wars, famines and great earthquakes, forty years after, Roman soldiers sacked Jerusalem and destroyed the temple. Today only a fragment of the Wailing Wall remains. History shows everything that Jesus has foretold has come true. The terrorist wars, wars between nations, disasters, famines and plagues of diseases have happened at least once, and some are still happening now.
Jesus didn’t tell us all these just so that we look out for the signs that might predict the end. In a sense, we have been in the end times since Jesus rose to heaven. No matter how we predict the end times, we will be caught by surprise.
So how do we prepare for what is to come? We simply have to stick to Jesus and put our hope, faith and love in him. God is giving us the time to learn , and to grow in faith and love in Him. Let us not take this opportunity for granted. As our love for God grows, we can be secure in the knowledge that whatever happens to this world or to us, God is in control. Then if Jesus comes back today or tomorrow, we will be able to meet him without any hesitation, and with open arms.
