Preparing For The Kingdom Of God
Romans 6:12-18; Psalm 124:1-8; Luke 12:39-48
There is a growing number of specialty stores selling self-defense equipment and supplies, as well as surveillance equipment and supplies. A lot of us have been aware of the temporal problem that crime that is existent in this world. However, are we also as ready spiritually for what is to come?
Jesus said, “if the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.” He’s talking about the time when our lives will be taken from us. When this time comes, will we be ready? Will we be ready enough to answer for all our sins? We were compared to the slaves, who neither knew the hour or time when their master returns, as revealed in His story. Majority went on merrymaking and getting drunk, beating other slaves, stealing, etc. As soon as the master returned, the master punished all the lazy and unruly servants who disregarded their duties. Those who knew what they were doing was wrong and yet decided to do what was wrong were given the harshest punishment. (eternal damnation for us) Those who innocently followed the wicked ways were also punished but given a lighter sentence. The ones who were working at the time of his arrival were rewarded greatly.
Which among the three groups of servants do you want to be? The answer is so obvious. We know the answer, but in being blessed to know the answer and knowing what to do, we should be vigilant with our thoughts, actions and words, for the Lord will be more critical with us than with people who don’t know God. Besides, who doesn’t want eternal life and happiness with God?
So live simple, love greatly, and always please the Lord. Always think of others before yourself. Practice what you preach.
