Reflections From The Bible And Life

Who Satisfies Our Hunger and Thirst

Isaiah 55:1-3; Romans 8:35-39; Matthew 14:13-21

Everyone hungers and thirsts, but we are called to seek for food and drink from that which will satisfy us eternally and not temporarily, as stated Isaiah 55:1-3. That food and drink is God‘s love. With His grace, we will not hunger and thirst anymore. God will provide for us whatever we need.

Food and water for ourselves will be less important for us when we are filled with God’s love and grace, for we will have the need to share this love with others in joy. As we do this, God takes care of our needs without us noticing it.

Likewise, the hunger for things other than food (like beautiful cars, houses, gadgets, etc) will not satisfy us either. Anything that is of this world will never satisfy you.

In Matthew 14:13-21, Jesus teaches the apostles selflessness and how to share what they have with others. As they followed Him, Jesus multiplied their five loaves and two fish and everyone was more than adequately fed as they had an excess of 12 baskets full after feeding the five thousand followers.

Jesus wants us to trust Him and just follow what He teaches. Be selfless and do not let anything stop you from loving others. There is no reason to be selfish and preserve anything. God will always provide you in abundance as long as you share that love with others.
