Reflections From The Bible And Life

The Solemnity Of The Sacred Heart Of Jesus

Deuteronomy 7:6-11; Psalm 103:1-4, 6-10; 1 John 4:7-16; Matthew 11:25-30Actions thoughts and words, even gestures and facial expressions are all overflows from the heart. Jesus has a heart that is full of love, and everything He did reflected what was in His heart, and that was love.

The famous lines of Basil Valdez taken from Matthew 11:28-30 state, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” These lines indicate that God wants us to come to Him at times when we feel heavily burdened and hopeless even. By come to Him, He meant leave all your burdens to God and trust that He will help you. Once you surrender everything to Him, trust is there and you put your faith in Him, believe me, your problems will all seem so light, and you will be at peace even amidst your trials and tribulations. This is a perfect image of a selfless and loving father will do anything to comfort his children and pacify them. God truly is love and vise versa.

As we follow Christ‘s ways, we should also reflect that image of God’s love to others through our actions thoughts and words. Christ’s teachings are all centered on love. His actions were so because of His love for us. Love is truly the keyword in any relationship. The place to start this is at home with your spouse and kids.

1 John 4:7 states, “Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.”
