Reflections From The Bible And Life

Pentecost Sunday

Acts 2:1-11; Psalm 104:1-34; 1 Corinthians 12:3-7, 12-13; John 20:19-23

Today is Pentecost Sunday, a historical day to us Christians. This is the day that Jesus breathed the Holy Spirit unto the apostles. From then on, they became bold in sharing the Good News and spoke in different languages as they were able to preach to people of different nationalities.

The Holy Spirit is a gift from our Lord. It’s readily available if we claim it. As we pray from deep in our hearts, and as long as our hearts are pure and our actions reflect those of coming from our heart, we start having a deeper relationship with God as our spirit communicates with the Holy Spirit, and we become guided by it as well as empowered by it. When we experience this, there can be nothing impossible for us anymore, for God is working alongside with us in every step of the way. It’s the Holy Spirit of our Lord that makes us understand His ways and boldens us to do His will.

Let us look deep into our hearts and see if we are ready to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, grant us the grace to seek you deep into our hearts, that our actions may reflect that of Your ways rather than ours. Grant us the Holy Spirit that we may have what it takes to do Your will.
