Reflections From The Bible And Life

Help Others First Before Myself

Ezekiel 18:21-28; Psalm 130:1-8; Matthew 5:20-26;

The bible teaches us that the only way to His kingdom is through righteousness. He even mentioned that we have to be more righteous than the scribes and the Pharisees at that time. The Lord seeks our loyalty to him. While He is compassionate with people who don’t know Him, for those who have knowledge of what they’re doing and yet have resorted to evil ways, there will be harsher justice.

One good deed that we have done in our life will not pay for our sins for the rest of our lives. We have to live our faith, as a proof of our love for the Lord. We should be ready to make a stand to fight for what is right even if being right may not be the popular choice at the time. We shouldn’t make decisions based on what other people might think, or decisions for our personal gain in the society, which would only render us as self-serving, and not God-centered.

God is in every one of us. In loving God and serving Him, we should put others needs above our own desires, even in our prayers. Matthew 25:40 states “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have doneth unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have doneth unto me.” There’s also Matthew 2-:16 stating “So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.”. Same is stated in Luke 13:30, and Jesus even spoke in Mark 9:35 saying, “If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.” We have to serve others before we serve ourselves like good hosts and hostesses.
